Thank you for your interest in becoming a nurse substitute for CISD.  Your application will remain active for the 2018-2019 school year and will be included in our substitute applicant pool.  The Coppell ISD Substitute Specialist will contact you if your application is chosen with an invitation to complete a on-line orientation.   Making an application is not a guarantee that you will receive an invitation.   Applications are processed according to the needs of the district.   If you were an active sub last year, you do not need to complete an application.

Primary Purpose:

Follow comprehensive program of health services for campus as a substitute for regular school nurse.  Provide health services to students.  

 

Qualifications: 

Education/Certification

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing Preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program
  • Valid registered nurse license to practice professional nursing in Texas from the State Board of Nurse Examiners
  • CPR Certification

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Knowledge of health appraisal to identify student health concerns
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to implement policies and procedures.

Experience

  • Nursing experience prefered but not required in community health

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

  1. Provide direct care utilizing professional assessment skills, the nursing process, and established school health protocols.
  2. Serve as health advocate for students.
  3. Notify parents of accident or illness and secure medical care for students in emergency cases (if parents or emergency contact cannot be reached).
  4. Locate substitute binder which provides important health related and campus information.
  5. Report potential health and safety hazards to principal.
  6. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.
